Oh, yeah, I've been down the futures path in the past.
The stops, the stop losses, and the heydumbassgetoutfigures are all good and nice in an orderly market, or even an unorderly market if your broker, his trading desk folks, his floor (screen) trader are all keeping their heads and remaining calm.

You buddy who lost the BIG 1 and I have something in common......we learned from hard knock experience.

Not to belabor the point, and not even wanting to engage in discussion about it.....pain still lingers......I was the proud owner of some future contracts waaaaayyyyyybackyonder when Goodbody was my broker and suspended trading cause they went flatass broke.... Also had some options with them at the time, too, and some individual stocks.....but that wasn't quite as horrible..

------->(In case you would like to take delivery. I imagine it would be a lot less messy than taking delivery on a contract of Hogs, but I don't know if a bare-footed Texan would be annoyed by that or not.)

I really feel that I could handle the live hogs delivery better than I nearly ended up with the porkbelly contracts that I did have in the above tale....gg

Thanks for the post and good luck in the gin drinking....err... game.

Regards---Nemer
