[Lehman lowers CLECs]

NEW YORK, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Lehman Brothers said on Wednesday it cut its rating on some competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs), lowering Intermedia Communications Inc (NASDAQ:ICIX) and ICG Communications Inc (NASDAQ:ICGX) to outperform.

-- Analyst Bill Garrahan also cuts McLeodUSA Inc (NASDAQ:MCLD) to outperform.

-- Stocks have risen sharply over the past year and while Garrahan still sees 15 to 20 percent upside to shares, risks could start to limit upside.

-- "We see risks in short-term revenue growth, network migration and expansion and increasing competition," he said.

-- Acquisitions of slower growing companies have slowed growth and added integration risks, he said.

-- Intermedia up 3/8 to 73-1/8, ICG up 15/16 to 28-11/16 and McLeodUSA rises 2-1/8 to 33-5/8.
