Personally, I don't think trump will take down democracy. He has a few factors going against him that should also stop him and/or slow him down.

First off, he's old. You can practically see him aging in real time when he gets in front of a camera, especially when he's not talking. When he's just sitting while someone else talks you can see him nodding off.

People are also growing tired of how he is governing, or more appropriately, not governing. People from both parties are fed up with how he's doing nothing to improve the economy.

Recent polls are showing significant numbers or republicans that think the country is headed in the wrong direction. Particularly young republicans, and especially women are not happy with what he's doing.

If we take back the House after the midterms that will take all the wind out of his sails. There is talk of elections not being run fairly and that will no doubt happen in some areas but not enough to matter.

But the single biggest driving factor that will stop him in my opinion is his age. He has slowed down a lot in just this first year of this term. By the time that last year comes around his tank will be on empty. The guy doesn't exercise, he has a terrible diet, he already has obvious health problems and we will probably never know how really bad his health is, short of him keeling over at the podium or stumbling while walking up AF1 steps.

This next year heading in to the mid terms should be much more telling.

Philippines democracy was taken down 20 years ago

Wasn't much of a democracy.

A corruptocracy got worse. Maybe that's us, too, but I'd like to think we have a somewhat stronger system. If we lose it, it'll be a bigger fall.
