CJ,
Almost all of the changes that Trump wants to make in our government and economy are also known to be susceptible to graft and corruption.
When South Korea was industrializing, it was under a series of autocratic leaders starting with Syngman Rhee and ending with Chun Doo-Hwan. The most competent and effective among them is Chun's predecessor, Park Jung-Hee, who helped bring South Korea from 3rd world to 2nd world status in the 1970's.

But all of them were susceptible to graft and corruption. It has turned into an inevitable feature of South Korean politics, even after the democratic reforms of the late 1980's.

Problems happen, however, when South Korean politicians, in their corruption, also turn out to be complete idiots.

That's what happened with Park Geun-Hye, the daughter of Park Jung-Hee, who was not only corrupt, but also just plain stupid. Her stupidity was the reason why she lost the support of the population, not her corruption.

It's also what happened with President Yoon, who stupidly tried to declare martial law for absolutely no reason whatsoever in December of 2024.

That's a huge reason why I'm so against Trump. Not just because he's so in-your-face about the graft and corruption, but because he is completely stupid. This is not a case of stupid is as stupid does, but rather a case of 40% of Americans believing Trump has some grand strategy behind his flip-flopping chaos.

Bottom line is that Trump isn't playing 5-D chess.
