Strong Earthquake Strikes Off Oregon Today - Newsweek


A strong 5.9 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of Oregon, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake struck 142 miles west of the town of Bandon at a shallow depth of just 6 miles, the USGS said.

There was no tsunami warning issued and there were no immediate reports of any damage on land.

Oregon lies near the San Andreas fault and some scientists say t
he Pacific Northwest is due a big quake.
