The question that has to be asked is, besides Tesla, who is the last US automotive manufacturer to make a general success? They are exceedingly rare? In fact, unless you want to count Rivian and Lucid, Tesla has been the only success in 100 years.

I don't think Rivian or Lucid could be counted as "successful" at this point unless there is a willingness for someone to put many billions into the business.

I think Musk was insane to have believed he could do it, but does look like Tesla is one of three US automakers that should be able to make it at this point.

If they can get billions in capital, one of them may make a go for it. If I were in their shoes I'd be trying to merge with the other one. I think.
