On the heels of this news, POG went red on the day. The price of silver is lower,too, but still up around one percent on the day, at least as of this moment.

China has a history of catastrophic flooding of biblical scales. Moreover, their new worlds largest dam has been shown to have structural problems. It's foundation pillars are moving, albeit fractionally for now*. Its failure could kill their economy (and perhaps the worlds), along with scores of millions of people, if not more.

* As I understand it, the pillars are set on bedrock, not in it. Their theory was that the weight of these pillars would be enough to hold them in place, saving significant amounts of money over building the structure into bedrock. According to some, it will fail one day depending upon some combination of rare weather conditions upstream.
