OMG. Over 24 years, GM sold 393,000 Humvees. Half of those were sold in two years -- 2003 and 2006. The other half sold over the other 22 years. The objective here is cost recovery.

I would hope they'll find a way to keep it in the lineup long-term, as it is a solid vehicle. The real problem is we don't really know why it isn't selling. Some say it is ugly, others say it is unreliable. Evidence of a lack of reliability doesn't seem to exist.

I see quite a few of them out and about in my area, and I have my own opinions.

But whatever it is, I hope they'll take another run at it and keep Musk out of the design department. The angles are not attractive to most people, the massive windshield was troubled from the outset and should have been done away with, but that would have forced improvements in the angles.

If they redesigned it with a more truck-like exterior and got rid of the stainless (which should reduce cost), I think they could create something that would sell. I've seen someone's designs that had more rounded corners and a smaller frame I really liked (although it looked dated).

I think they should consider another go at it. While Robos will replace a lot of cars, trucks are still going to be needed for a long time to come.
