Hi Shege:
That"s my point. Such benchmarks are usually a bunch of dog-doo. The real test is the real test. That was the point of my last post: specific examples of live customers. Now that is not to say that a customer can"t get themselves in trouble. I remember one of our early customers insisting that they run our database using Sybase 4.2 on a machine with only 40 Mbytes of RAM running 200-250 concurrent users. Of course they had performance problems. Other customers have insisted on running their reports on their OLTP server. These type of customers will generally do experience performance problems regardless of which vendor they use. They also generally learn better (albeit the hard way).

re: holier-than-them. Hey, why not a little corporate jingoism? We get enough investor jingoism on these threads as it is. Reminds me of the Far Side comic, where the reptile was on the witness stand saying "Of course I killed him in cold blood! I"m a reptile, you idiot!"

Sorry, I"m not a port man. As with all good engineers, undiluted Diet Coke runs pure through my veins.

Good luck with the BROC crowd.
