I liked the bridge reference which not even most B&T and NYC rental folks would recognize! :-)

Looking at this as a biased outsider, and having briefly met the current Mets owner once back in the day... I think he's a straight shooter, and a fan that wants to win with a bankroll to match. However baseball is such a difficult sport. All the money in the world doesn't matter for the day in and day out nature of it. Anyone that doesn't respect the sport says, "oh, it's baseball, whatever". Yet its daily grind and travel is unlike any other professional team sport I'm aware, please correct me if wrong. Even worse are those that spend years in the minors living on minimum wage at best, on average, to get their chance. The players union doesn't seem overly anxious to change that.

And now, as you've said, it's filtered down to a lesser extent to these traveling high school and middle school teams. Heck of a long way since my Tee-Ball and Little League days! :-)

The Sox are thankful the series will be played in NY.
