Just have the usual rumors of S3, Micron, 3DFx......
I would guess S3 is the frontrunner. As far as when could be now??
I held two different positions at the company in my tenure both in the trenches!!
I saw a great deal of opportunities lost!!
The company for some reason forgot that they got DELL in the first place by booting out STB with a Low-Low-end graphics card (Trio64)later called the 9FX 330.
A total of approx. 10 days of engineering was spent on that design.
And the board was never respun.
What came out of that design win at DELL was:

1. Over 1 Million boards sold to DELL.
2. Allowed us to get in DELL with Mid range (S3 968) and High-end (I128).
3. Paid the bills and then some for a couple of years.
4. A great working relationship.

They forgot that it was Third party designs that got them where the were 3years ago.

On the ASIC side.....I believe the problem there is simple:

They sit down to define new chip specifications for the market nine months from now. They deliver pretty much(I'm being kind) what they said they would 18 MONTHS later!!

Number Nine has spent a long time waiting for their Boat to come in......the only problem is they have been waiting at the Airport.

just one man's opinion!!
