Canadian poison pills have become largely redundant due to regulatory changes in 2016, which require hostile bids to remain open for at least 105 days, limiting their effectiveness. While they can still provide some defense, their utility is significantly less compared to similar strategies in the U.S.

Poison pill - generally they work in a investors favour although there are cases where you would be better off taking the money and run.

Way back when - Tumi got raided , they had a bunch of cash in the till and some grifters bought up enough stock to gain control. The boss had a deal in place to get 1/2 ownership of Imperial metals ( by drilling up imperials deposit ) but the new goofs voted it down - a poison pill may have helped in that case.
