According to other posts this COD may merely be dust and other contamination of the drive 's internals. Keeping the dust down and the disks clean may virtually eliminate this problem. Go figure about the dust abuse that some of the Zips may be subjected to before they need to be cleaned.

The Zip shouldn't be used as a meat grinder. So wipe away the Big Macs and fries, and keep a clean and dust free work as the first line of defense against drive malfunction.
