And the post-Watergate reforms are showing themselves as flimsy paper:

On the one hand, I can't really blame Wray for resigning. But on the other hand, a true patriot would stayed and fought Trump. Presidents don't have the power to fire FBI directors. Wray could have taken it to the SC. Even though it is plausible that he would have lost since the SC is composed of a bunch of idiot toadies who don't understand that the Founders did not create a King (or who choose not to understand that), it would have at least delayed Patel's ascension.
