Wow, that sucks. I have a PayPal account but hearing how you were treated makes me want to cancel it ASAP. The customer should always be right....not sure how we are getting away from that.

Sorry you were the victim of Fraud. I am glad to hear you eventually got. your money back. Sounds like a pain. I get a lot of "Fishing" emails and text that sound like people looking for potential victims to scam. I have been fortunate and have not experienced much of this personally.

Upon reflection, I see how I could have come across as patronizing. It was not my intent. I will be mindful of this going forward.
My thought was that the ultimate liability for this kind of fraud falls upon the Brokerage and the SIPC insurance. With that said, sure victims of securities fraud need to deal with a lot of administrative pain to get their $$$ back and that is why I don't want it to happen to me.

BTW: My 3 kids are all in their 30's and none were ever particularly interested in my advice.s

I cancelled PayPal over ten years ago because I would receive emails saying my account was being charged for various services never signed up for. Maybe one of the charges actually went through and eventually reversed.
Now, I receive at least one email weekly for years showing charges to my PayPal account for services--Geek Squad, Mcaffee, PC laptop purchases, etc. I just delete them since I no longer have a PayPal account. A lot of these emails go to spam, but still many come directly to my inbox.
