In an independent meeting held on Sunday, ElectroniCast's Jeff Montgomery predicted that the total market for dense WDM components will rise from its 1996 figure of less than $1 million [should be billion I suspect] up to $12 billion by the year 2006, with much of that increase being driven by optical amplifiers. The switching technology market will meanwhile grow from less than $100 million to more than $3.5 billion in the same time period.
