....never got there.....I was a deprived kid

LOL! Yes. Makes sense. No real joke though. I feel the pain.

We lived in Woodland Hills in the Valley. It was a long drive to Anaheim to Disney Land. Less than my Dad's morning drive to Long Beach everyday.

After nearly beating me to death on a given day, he would say, "It's go with dad day; where would you like to go?" Disney Land!!! Or, when could not afford it, just drive to the fence at the airport where he worked, to stand with the planes taking off over our heads. Worked for me. Planes and dad. Some attention without beating and crying.

Mom would take us camping, as we had no money to go anywhere. Other kids telling of their trips to Hawaii.

Would take the camping any day! Learned so much.

Still, she would take us into town, LA, to Olivera Street and the Labrea tar pits. All free. In that day, the smog was so bad that you could not see the city hall building, the highest at the time, until you were a block away from it.

Even so, had horses, and my own. Raised chickens in 4H. Had a great time. Would not exchange it for anything. Parents are not given a handbook.
