You mentioned after the election that we were in for Crony Capitalism, and that is what we have. My expectation was that things would be similar to Berlusconi in Italy, but what has transpired has eclipsed anything I could have imagined. Laws are respected as if they were written on toilet paper, and the Revenge Tour 2025 so far has far exceeded anything I could have imagined a year ago. I knew it was coming, but I just didn't realize the numbers who would agree to be complicit in all of this, making it more far-reaching than I ever thought possible. Every administration tramples the law to a certain extent whether through drone strikes in foreign countries targeting Americans, undeclared wars, debt forgiveness, etc. We haven't had an administration before that just made things up and called it law to this extent probably since FDR in the mid-30's, and he was beaten back on many fronts by the courts. The mid-terms in 1938 were quite a smack in the face for him as was the return to 20% unemployment despite all the programs in place. The biggest difference is that cruelty and retribution are official policy, and complete disregard for the rights of anyone who chooses to be non-conforming or just happens to be the wrong appearance or income level now has consequences we've not seen for many decades if ever. I do not blame Americans for all of this. I blame the social media algorithms that sow hate. I also blame the demise of the equal time doctrine that was struck down in the late 80's. It was the legally correct ruling, but it's helped spin things into a cesspool of hate and distrust. Moore's Law is great for computers. It's not so great lately for humans who have brains that evolve super slow and cannot fathom or process the onslaught of information today, much of it bogus or just plain hate speech.
