It looks like both, the Ukraine and Russia, could be in for a cold and dark Winter.

Major Russian strikes cut power in Kyiv and across Ukraine

and then there is this (translated from German)

Russia's attacks hit Ukraine's gas production hard
Russian missile and drone attacks have destroyed a large part of domestic gas production, according to Ukrainian government sources. As a result of a large-scale attack on the Kharkiv and Poltava regions, a total of 60 percent of domestic production was lost on October 3, as reported by the US news portal "Bloomberg".

Before the major Russian attack, Ukraine was able to largely cover its gas needs itself. The now damaged infrastructure could force the government to import gas worth around 1.9 billion euros to supply the population over the winter. This was reported by several people familiar with the situation, who wished to remain anonymous, in an interview with "Bloomberg".

"Russia will do everything so that we cannot produce our gas," President Volodymyr Zelensky said in Kiev on Monday. "It will be difficult to protect all this. The task is: We need money to be able to import gas so that people are supplied."
