That is common in Europe to one extent or another. To the point where radio and TV stations are the target of terrorists and other malcontents. I remember decades ago when the French built a TV/radio station that looked like a giant water tower. It was covered in ceramic tiles to make it difficult to climb.

Soon after the Wall came down, I had an opportunity to travel to Germany and went to Berlin. On the way, the autobahn was undergoing some repairs, so we took surface roads through the country. We passed a sugar beet field that had a radio station way out in the middle. I was informed that was so that any attackers would have to cross a lot of open ground to take it.

Really different mindset there.
