You know, I used to cycle past that area a lot and the very short connector road was named Confederate Drive. They actually removed the road and replaced it with plants.

It was a bout a 7 mile loop and I was able to watch the factions get situated. When anitifa showed up choas ensued and I imagine that is what they wanted. It was all screaming and blocking the road. I was riding an offroad bike and it was a slight downhill and I seriously thought about cranking it up to 40 and see if they moved. There were a lot of cop cars and they did nothing about anything and I was going a a long ride in a couple of weeks and decided against ramming the aholes.

This was similar in a way to the Michael Brown riots in Ferguson which was not that far away. I knew a few people who went to the demonstrations and were lamenting the fact that people were rioting, looting and burning things down. These folks were well-intentioned but greatly misguided. They actually would go and help to clean up from the riots and then watch them riot all over that evening.

There were at least 4 groups present: peaceful demonstrators, opportunistic looters, and folks, many from out of town who came to ignite riots. The Proud Boys or Oath Keepers were also there helping to protect property. Some black store owners requested their assistance.
