Wow, that's an impressive generated timeline!

The longest shutdown on record was 35-days, if memory serves. We're almost half-way there, and there is no real impetus to end the shutdown yet.

The biggest sticking point seems to be the ACA pandemic subsidy supplement extension. These are really large subsidies that in some cases can take an $1,800 monthly premium all the way down to $150 or even zero.

The ACA subsidies were rather modest for middle income Americans prior to the pandemic, so they were not an issue prior to the pandemic, but once they are offered and used, it's tough to take them back.

My understanding is the subsidies didn't change much for the low income portion who bought Marketplace plans. It's the middle income people who would really see changes. That's probably why it's such a sticking point with some GOP members whose constituents began to rely on them.
