It kind of makes me wonder what kind of damage the 1964 Anchorage Earthquake would do today if it hit. Anchorage is a much bigger city now. That was a 9.2 magnitude quake, which is almost impossible to comprehend, as it's a log scale and 10x the strength of an 8.2 magnitude quake, which is massive already.

You may not have seen the coverage in the lower 48, but that recent big storm was covered pretty well in the lower 48. The news cycle runs faster than disaster aid, however.
