When I first saw those advertised, I classed them with the 100mpg carburetors and perpetual motion machines. I could come up with no plausible way they could work and bleeding edge technology doesn't make it to market without having a trail of prior work behind it. Besides, if it had those kinds of properties, there are far more lucrative applications than that. Spoofing traffic cameras would not be the first use.

Same thing applies to the flag. Now it very well may be that there are films that have the needed properties and I am unaware of them. But it should be a trivial thing to point at said products instead of concocting a conspiracy theory. A lot of work is put into semiconductor cameras so they can capture images as close to human eyes as possible. Now some sensors can sense outside the spectrum the eye works in. But that would explain the very dramatic color shift implied by this explanation.
