About that NPR bias, I listened to Planet Money's review of the previous time NYC went broke. It seemed to be an honest reporting but missing was any thought that NYC shouldn't spend quite so much. Need to get the bonds sold and the housing allowances paid, never a question of, why? Looking forward to the upcoming bankruptcy and the federal response.

The McGovern Left started capturing the heights in the 70's, and the capture was all but complete by the late 90's. The "accepted truth" is the ideology of those boomer McGovernites. What has it given us? Rot and decline. People see it, they feel it, they know it. Bush was content to swim in that pond. Trump is hated even more because he points out the rot and drains the pond.
