The events happens no matter who is in power, but the response to developments which one side claims are not happening at all are certainly different.

Similar damage is happening at coastal community in the Canadian Arctic, but fortunately our governments understand why this is happening, which doesn't always make it easier to figure out how to deal with it.

And it is not just stronger storms moving into new areas, it's also the rise in ocean level.

Here in Vancouver we are certainly dealing with effects of sea level rise. Coastal seawalls and such are being raised and reinforced, and our most low-lying municipality, Richmond, much of which is not under the ocean due to dikes, is trying to figure out what to do.

Other examples include NYC, London, much of Florida, large swathes of coastal China, and almost all of Bangla Desh.

And of course, there are the Pacific Island nations seemingly destined to disappear altogether under the waves because we are doing so little to curb GHG emissions.
