Wharfie, the TACO Supreme Commander once again takes another step back from his crazy protectionism:

Huge relief for Indian techies, students as US announces exemptions to H-1B visa fees (Hindustan Times)

In a major relief for thousands of Indian professionals and students in the United States, the Trump administration has clarified that recent international graduates sponsored for H-1B status while already in the country will not be required to pay the steep $100,000 fee introduced last month. Officials had earlier also stated that existing H-1B visa holders will not be required to pay the fees announced last month.

That's actually excellent news for those on student visas, especially those here trying to get Master's degrees in order to qualify for the H-1B "master's edition." Not only is the fee waived for them, but I believe their chances of getting an H-1B visa just went up given that the competition just got reduced by a lot.

Although in general I am very much against this st00pid-ass fee, I think the chaos of how TACO Trump initially introduced it has been mitigated by a lot.
