In my lifetime it's never been talked about where there is a problem at the White House because it doesn't have a big enough area where State dinners can be held. At least not that I can recall.

I kind of doubt that there is now, or that there ever has been a need to have a ballroom that can hold 1000 people.

Maybe an argument could be made that there could be some renovations done that could have both improved the East wing, which is where the First Ladies have their offices, and at the same time incorporate building a larger ballroom but we don't need one that is practically going to dwarf the White House.

As usual, it's trumps way, or it's the god damn highway. Very little thinking goes in to what he does. He just get's these grandiose ideas and from there it becomes a situation where come hell or high water this project will be done. Like the Wall for instance, boy oh boy that was a super project.

The White House is after all called the People's House, it's not donald trumps house.

should have a place indoors

There's some respectably big rooms there, big enough for functions for at least decades. And there are plenty of even bigger places available in town if dear leader has a bigger crowd in mind.

I understand what you are saying and can agree in part, but I don't understand why he had to tear down
anything to build this structure. I would think there is enough room on the South Lawn to build it.
I think he wants to show everyone that he can do anything at all he wants and there is nothing we can do about it. Part of his power trip.
