The world of computers reminds me of how a few buildings can turn into a city by the time a century goes by. Except in this case, the city has endless urban sprawl and traffic. There are districts and neighborhoods. Some are slums with trash and graffiti. There are stores, malls, businesses, museums, schools, churches, mosques, temples, brothels, stadiums, undergrounds and entertainments. And crime.

re. mindless distractions. You're right about that! Like cities attract lots of tourists who come for entertainment that's what the bulk of casual computer users seem to me to be.

Computers are like anything else, they magnify what's already inside the user.
