The senior citizens, myself included, will not tolerate a major cut in current social security benefits. Whichever party cuts social security will loose dramatically at the next regularly scheduled elections. I suspect even a pause in the annual inflation adjustment will cause a dramatic election turnout against the political party seen as freezing our benefits.
