Kirk was asked:

“How do you justify the Second Amendment when there are so many gun deaths in America?”

His full response was:

“Yeah, it's a great question. Thank you. So, I'm a big Second Amendment fan, but I think most politicians are cowards when it comes to defending why we have a Second Amendment. They always say, ‘Oh, it's about hunting’ or ‘It's about sport shooting.’ No, it's about protecting our God-given rights from tyranny. And yes, I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That’s the truth. Freedom isn’t free. And if we start compromising on this, we’ll lose everything else.”
