Did they say what the yield was before, or give you any absolute % numbers? increasing the
yield from 1% to 5% does not change a thing.

According to official Amd sources, they wont have "volume" production until the middle of the
year.

Question 1's answer: Yes, I do have the number before and after which is more than good enough for AMD to be profitable in K6. The fab at which the yield was dramatically improved was the 0.25 um Austin Fab. The same fix will be duplicated in the 0.25 um Germany Fab too.

Question 2's answer: AMD has found the problem which usually took more time than fixing it and fixed the problem faster than originally anticipated. Mgmt had to be conservative after having eggs thrown at for so long and their credibility was in question by the St.

I expect AMD to return to profitability in 2Q98, one qtr ahead of schedule.
