IBM had two back to back 4xATR moves. This means something changed the market's perspective. That thing was the inflation report. IBM's chart, when put in the macro context and combined with their earnings report (they did beat), clearly tells you that after the inflation numbers came out the market decided we're going to be in a bull market for another quarter.

But if your intent was to day trade SPX on the down side, which I still think is better done via SPXS but you bought the puts already, you may want to wait a bit before taking the loss (tight stops).
