I do not understand it, but over the yrs I have come across so much negativity against Q (versus very little positivity) from within the industry. Some opinions I dismiss as uninformed or regurgitated hearsay. Otoh some have come from informed, involved people who, when I queried them (e.g. re the cap on royalty rates), do know the ground facts. Still, I hear this common accusation thrown about that Q's royalties are extortionary and out of line with other licensors.

Also telling are the interminable disputes Q has had with its customers. Before Cook, there was Huawei, and Samsung, and LG, and Nokia. In some cases (e.g. Nokia and Cook) maybe we can ascribe the acrimony to the unreasonableness of the other party. Otoh, things can't be all good when your key customers keep picking fights with you. It's a damn lousy -- and uphill -- way to run a business.

I do not understand it. Until I do, I am not ready to give Q's exec suite a pass on it.
