Thanks for the info. Your owner demand makes the most sense. Must be some gentleman's agreement not to interfere or the CFL talent level is that low. Otherwise more players would be poached. This is almost the opposite of how professional soccer works, even across leagues where players are more like property under contract.

Have heard of of NFL players migrating to the CFL when their careers end here but rarely the other wat around. Warren Moon was a notable exception for a few reasons. Maybe there's been some since but the only other name that comes to mind is Raghib "Rocket" Ismail en.wikipedia.org but he never lived up to the hype imo.
