Matsushita To Release PCs For Easy Digital Image Processing

(Nikkei)--Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (6752)
said it will introduce three new models in its Digital
AVC Studio personal computer series designed to
enable easy home processing of images taken by
digital video and still cameras. The major Japanese
consumer electronics maker will release the
machines successively starting on March 5.

The FX-CR01 comes with a videocassette unit to
receive images from a digital video camera for
editing. The PC has an Intel Pentium II processor
and 64 megabytes of memory, and will sell for
698,000 yen.

To process digital photographs, Matsushita will offer
the FX-ED01 and FX-ED01/M for 298,000 and
328,000 yen, respectively. The two machines are
one-third the size of the company's conventional
PCs.
