I did not see that post, but it sounds similar to this article which is on Digitimes behind a paywall. I think it's probably the same thing.

Panic-fueled shortage in memory chips worsens as AI demand overwhelms supply

digitimes.com

I do wonder if the "shortage" in memory chips will slow cell phone and PC sales? Really hard to say without inside knowledge of what's going on. If the AI data centers want to buy ALL the NAND for their data center, and selling that NAND to them is much more profitable than selling NAND to PC and cell phone makers, what does the NAND maker do? One would think they gotta allocate some NAND to PC and cell phone makers, but if those guys (who want cheap basic NAND) want to order more for a strong season, maybe they're out of luck?

I don't know. I read all the memory makers (particularly SK) are sold out for 2026. Seriously? So if someone launches a hot product, and they want to sell double the forecast in H2 2026, they can't get the components? Sort of hard to believe.

Anyways, yes, memory demand is through the roof. Good time to be Micron or Sandisk it seems.
