Heywood, there is nothing wrong with opposing injustice. If you have to fight against tyranny, do so with conviction.

Jesus, however, points out that we Christians are storing up treasures in heaven, not treasure on Earth. Take a look at what scripture says (Matthew 22:19-21 NIV):

*******
Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”

“Caesar’s,” they replied.

Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

*******

All the money we have, it belongs to the U.S. Treasury. That represents "treasure on Earth," which we can't take with us when we die.

Remember, Jesus didn't say "Render unto Caesar" because he wanted to empower the brutal Roman occupiers. He said it because he was redefining the very meaning of wealth. That's what took the Pharisees off-guard. They thought they could trap Jesus. Instead he escapes their trap and demonstrates to them just how inadequate their understanding of God's word really is.
it also allows my government to murder innocent people on my behalf.
Whether you pay your taxes or not isn't going to make a difference. Donald Cheeser is going to do what he is going to do, and he'll get his just reward.

Just know that paying taxes, even to an unjust government, isn't contradictory to the Lord's will. You're just acknowledging that it was their currency to begin with, so they can have it. You instead are trusting that the Lord will provide.

And again, if you have to fight against injustice, go right ahead. Many Christians have done so throughout the course of history, and many have paid the ultimate price in order to advance justice.
