It very well may be that the 2025 election has revealed the man behind the curtain. What happens now is hard to say. My impression from the start was this was a zergling attack. They didn't have all of the pieces in place to actually get away with the things they were doing. The total collapse of the political class was in some ways surprising, but not so in others. Having an actual spine has slipped out of favor. I compared them to a bunch of smart teens with a plan to take over the world. Some parts were pretty detailed, Project 2025, but a lot depended on playing by ear with hopes of miracles. Like expecting the entire military and judicial system to fall in line. As you note, fear only lasts so long. Especially when it becomes clear there is nothing behind it.
