re: <I may sell 1/2 my VLSI and maybe some other things>

That'd be the conservative thing to do...., I've done this
a few times in the last few months (change from long to short to
long again) and it's net been working for me...., I'll screw up
some time and stop trying to do it again for a while. Your approach
will keep your knuckles from being too white -- if it goes to
28 you'll be smiling while I'm crying.

My big picture guiding light, of sorts, is an article I read, wsj I believe,
where they were comparing ~50 'top economists' aggregate
'98 growth estimates compared to the sum of the individual
companies/analyst estimates. As the discrepancy was larger than
it had been for years the implication is that individual company
estimates have not all come down yet. My point being that I think
the market as a whole will be churny this year, and an occasional
switch of directions is a way to make money on this.

VLSI is great, and I don't intend to stay short..., though I probably
will average up on this position. Personally, I'll feel more comfortable
going into March with ~50% of my holdings short.

And thanks for calling me nutty..., I needed that, and I did ask. Hopefully I'll be more 'crazy like a fox'.
