Rat expects Mamdani won't be able to accomplish a great deal, but he'll be a success if crime doesn't go up. He can't raise taxes without state authorization, rent control is good for the renter, but is counter-productive when you need more units, and he can't do much else without backing from the City Council.
In that sense, he reminds me of Obama.
