My guess is that if, instead of Marines, there were 3 or 4 police officers involved and one cop got stabbed in the back by the perpetrator, the guy would not have survived.

At some level Darwinism takes over and the cards fall where they may.

Street justice carries a lot more weight in the eye of the person committing the crime. In today's
world, the legal system is on the side of the crooks. I spent 15 years dealing with these guys on
the street and after the damage was done they considered the results as a tax due for their actions.
Just my opinion.
