Interesting take, T-SAT.

I’d say the problem isn’t empathy itself, it’s selective empathy.

When empathy is extended only toward fashionable causes or certain groups, it becomes a tool for manipulation rather than understanding.

Musk’s “weaponized empathy” comment was clumsy but not entirely wrong, it’s a critique of emotional coercion being used to justify bad policy.

Empathy is still essential for civilization, without it, we’d have nothing but cold utilitarianism and self-interest.

The challenge is keeping empathy grounded in reason instead of letting it become a political cudgel.
