Barry, Thanks for the informative post. However, there aren't any Internet ISPs around here that support cable modems. At least nobody I know of.

Computer City sells a 18" dish marketed by DirectPC. However, its not hooked up for demo there. And NOBODY there seems to know what ISP supports it.

ISDN ($60/month) is unavailable in my area. And T1 is way too expensive.

It seems like I'll have to wait for ADSL Lite, which promises to be deployed more universally than cable modems and satellite dishes. To drive demand for more processor MIPS, WinTelCo (Windows/Intel/Cisco) must make bandwidth more available than it is today. Soon.
