J...Well it is my understanding that DPMI is already working with others on the alternative technologies..and specifically the non-optical techniques (READ: electron beam lithography). But check Gilder sometime for a read on the SEVERE limitations of the direct write options.
Meanwhile...the industry was projected to get ready to leave DUV lithography (at the .13 micron level) somewhere after 2009. In fact, when I was researching DPMI's capabilities out in their new facilities at LSI's Gresham Oregon plant, it was stated that they would pre-install capabilities to got "at least" as fine as .13 micron.
But I just expected that when things headed for .08 micron, non-optical techniques would be used.. Now it looks like DPMI can take this even below .08 micron...and we are looking at a transition perhaps a dozen to fifteen years out!... love it! Duane
