The information about Block offices comes straight from their Web page and things I've "heard" from Block traders. I cannot speak for the other offices -- in San Francisco, the problem was profitability, or lack thereof. It really isn't as easy as it looks to make money as an office -- you need a few solid traders to hold up the burgeoning new traders... There is no competition in San Francisco, BTW. There are now no firms here and none pending that I know of. There are 18 offices listed on Block's web page. Last December there were 23-25 and 4 new opens COMING SOON!...
