re: He hasn't agreed to the plan; he agreed to "negotiate" on the plan.

Which is what the headline says. It would have been retarded of him to reject the "peace plan" (as he did all the peace offers in the past). So maybe he is learning.

re: I think he has learned more about how to interact with Trump over the last few months

exactly

re: It would be dangerous to simply give Putin land he invaded

There is apparently some "lease" agreement in the plan, where Ukraine would not officially cede the territory, but lease it to Russia. It does seem like real estate guys are writing this deal.

re: Remember, Trump is malleable. He frequently changes his mind based on the last person to speak with him. Z at least wants to show he wants peace too.

The failed "envoy" Keith Kellogg is leaving. Reuters really gives away why Trump policy in Ukraine did not succeed this year, when Reuters calls Kellogg "a key advocate for Ukraine".

There is no neocon fairy tale ending for this story, it is only how much of their failed "Project Ukraine" they can salvage.

These two are now in conflict: More they push for the fairy tale, the more they prolong the war with that fairy tale ending in mind, the more they lose. The less can be salvaged in the end.
