The 3/16/98 issue of Fortune has an article showing that SAP is no longer just for giant companies. SAP will license it's software to smaller companies for $250,000 a year on average. However getting it implemented can cost up to 150% extra. The article uses American Packaging as an example, and said it took a 6 member team 7 months to set up the software system. Frankly , considering all the horror stories about how hard SAP is to implement, I found the set up time reasonable.
Also, I hear tht SAP is close to releasing some new improved versions of the software, based on customer input. Imagine, actually listening to your customers, often unusual in the software busines.
SAP is rapidly becoming the standard, with smaller companies using it because they want to integrate with their big customers. BTW, thanks for getting me interested in SAP. The stock has done very well.

Ibexx,

Am up 10% in 3 weeks.

The controllers in our company now refer to the term 'SAP' in a generic sense, just like the words 'spreadsheet' or 'e-mail'. Sign of a developing franchise, I might think.
