Lastshadow, I am fascinated by your post that the poem "First Fig" was written by someone else. It is in a book I have entitled "Collected Poems", Edna St. Vincent Millay, published by Harper & Row. It is printed verbatim as I used in my post by the way. Would you mind sharing your reference or source? Many thanks, sounds like we have a mystery. best, Stitch

LastShadow, that's an interesting theory! I put out a few feelers after reading your post and I received this message in reply. "H. Nelson Miller" <hmiller@cennet.mc.peachnet.edu> Organization:Macon College Hi Millay did in fact write "First Fig"; the other story is a common but entirely untrue myth. Nelson Miller I have replied, asking him if he knows where this story originated and by whom. This is fascinating. Do you write poetry, LastShadow? What a lovely name, I'm just fascinated by the names on SI, I'm sure everyone has a rich symbolic meaning attached to their name. gyp
