Well, that can add to it but the idea with tarrifs is more domestic manufacturing down the line so it's give and take.
There is no give and take. There is only take.

Trump's tariffs are raising costs on everything, but it's not boosting domestic manufacturing.

In fact, they're having the opposite effect. Domestic manufacturing is slowing down, all thanks to the chaos that Trump's tariffs have caused.

I wrote this seven months ago, right after lIbErAtIoN dAy. It still holds true. With regard to tariffs, Trump couldn't have done any worse. That's not an exaggeration or a superlative for superlative's sake.
